A gentle climb through woods and open countryside from Charlton, near Singleton up to Heyshott Down and the South Downs Way at a high point of 235 metres. The return is via Eastdean Wood. There is a steep downward hill with steps for a short part towards the end part of the walk. The walk is 6 miles long. There are many footpaths so I recommend taking a map with you, preferably an electronic one with GPS. There is parking for about 3.5 cars at the start position (GPS 50.91027, -0.73879 - OS: SU887130) shown by a red flag on the map.
