HighWay comes in two parts, the main 'Engine' part and the 'User' part. In a network situation the 'Engine' part would be stored once on the File Server for the whole network to 'read' and is usually in the 'Library' or 'ArthurLib' directory. On a level 4 or similar network a copy of the 'user' part of HighWay would be stored in each 'users' root directory. This enables network users to save their own setup procedures. Normally the network manager would set up a basic user set. eg. !System, !Fonts, favourite applications and directories etc. This setup would then be copied to each users root directory where the user would be able to add individual requirements etc.
Another program of mine called !UserCopy is available to HighWay owners at no extra cost. This enables the network manager to copy a HighWay 'user' setup (or anything else) to many user directories. It can also be set to 'WIPE' if required. (Useful if you want to delete something from everyones root directory)
With HighWay installed on a level 4 network a typical startup scenario could be:
Many other startup possibilities are possible, and the above is just an example.
By default when a network user logs on, their network username will be put below the HighWay icon on the iconbar. Alternatively a custom name can be placed here.
Of course HighWay is just at home in a non network environment, or even a mixture of the two.
